This Privacy Notice for Sirena, developed and operated by Ignas Paskauskas (“we,” “us,” or “our”), describes how and why we access, collect, use, and share information when you use our mobile application, Sirena (“the App”), an independent civil emergency guidance app for residents of Lithuania. Sirena is not an official government application; its guidance content is sourced from official PAGD (Fire and Rescue Department / Civil Protection) and lt72.lt materials, but the app itself is developed and maintained independently.
Questions or concerns? Reading this notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the App. If you have questions, contact us at sirenaprivacy@gmail.com.
If you use the Family tab, you may enter a meeting point and up to five contacts. This information is stored only on your device (local encrypted storage) and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. When you use the SMS feature, it opens your phone’s native messaging app with a pre-filled message — the message is sent through your own mobile carrier, not through Sirena or any server we control.
Location data. With your permission, the App requests your device’s GPS location to calculate the nearest emergency shelter to you. This calculation happens entirely on your device. Your location is also used by our mapping provider, Mapbox, to render map tiles and (unless disabled) for its own telemetry — see “Third Parties” below. You can decline or revoke location access at any time in your device settings; the App will fall back to general guidance without shelter-proximity features.
Crash and diagnostic data. If the App crashes or encounters an error, our crash monitoring provider, Sentry, automatically collects technical information such as device model, operating system version, and the error/stack trace, to help us fix bugs. This may include your IP address.
Local notifications. The App may show on-device notifications to help you track an in-progress emergency guidance flow. These are generated locally on your device — they are not push notifications from a remote server, and no notification content is sent to us.
We do not collect sensitive categories of information (health, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.), and we do not knowingly collect any information from third-party sources about you.
We process the limited information described above only for the following purposes:
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App as described.
Under the GDPR, we rely on:
We do not sell your data. We share limited information with the following service providers, each acting under their own privacy terms:
We may also disclose information where required by law, or in connection with a merger, sale, or transfer of some or all of our assets.
Data stored on your device uses encrypted local storage (MMKV). Data sent to Mapbox and Sentry is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Sirena is intended for general public use and is not directed at, or knowingly used to collect data from, children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information (e.g. through a support inquiry), contact us at sirenaprivacy@gmail.com and we will address it.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Because most of your data never leaves your device, many of these rights are already in your direct control — deleting the App or clearing its storage removes locally held data immediately.
For anything held by us or our processors (e.g. Sentry crash logs), you can submit a data subject access request or email us directly.
If you are in Lithuania, you may also lodge a complaint with the State Data Protection Inspectorate (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija), or with your local supervisory authority if you are elsewhere in the EEA/UK/Switzerland.
We may update this notice from time to time; the “Last updated” date above will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the App or on this page.
